Update: Los Angeles Latino Book & Family Festival

Cal State, Los Angeles
It is with great regret that we announce that we will be unable to hold the 2011 Los Angeles Latino Book & Family Festival, scheduled for the weekend of October 8-9.
I think anyone who has attended the event these past two years at California State University, Los Angeles, will agree that the Festival has enjoyed excellent crowds, fantastic authors, interesting vendors and an overall feeling of resurgence. But the truth is the current economic environment has brought us fewer and fewer cash paying sponsors the past two years. As a non-profit organization Latino Literacy Now can no longer afford to offset the annual losses of revenue on our own.
We will be back stronger than ever in October of 2012. I also feel we should continue at our new home - CSULA. We would be most interested in hearing your ideas on the future of this annual Los Angeles event.
In the meantime, please continue to check here for information on a new initiative for the Latino Book and Family Festival: an approach that will bring our festival concept of promoting reading, Latino literacy and Latino authors to a much wider audience. For authors it also means an opportunity to reach a wider audience as well. Stay tuned.
Top Ten Reasons You Should Sponsor or Exhibit at the 2012 Los Angeles Latino Book & Family Festival
10. You'll be associated with a great cause: Latino Literacy Now was founded to promote literacy in the community and to advance the cause of reading as a means of self-improvement both personally and professionally. Our Board of Directors is headed up by our Chairman, actor and community activist Edward James Olmos.
9. 2012 will mark the third year we will occupy the same footprint (Greenlee Plaza) at California State University, Los Angeles assuring a continued increase in attendance.
8. This is a family event with something for every family member (author readings; seminars; ethnic food court; entertainment; children's stage; a wide variety of vendors; health screenings; autograph area).
7. The event is held during Hispanic Heritage Month in the largest Latino market in the United States.
6. We feature a respected literary program with more Latino authors than any other event in the country.
5. Our team has produced over 50 of these events in various Latino markets over the past 14 years. In 2012 we will hold our 14th annual Los Angeles event.
4. We have partners in a variety of media (print and electronic) to extend your branding efforts.
3. The festival is a noise controlled, business friendly environment where you may speak directly with the consumer. We avoid sponsor clutter (completely unintentional) so your activation stands out.
2. We will work with you individually, one to one, to create a unique partnership program that meets your needs and goals in reaching this important target market. The benefits described in our sponsorship portfolio are to be considered starting points for a discussion on how we can tailor a program specifically for you.
And the #1 Reason You Should Sponsor or Exhibit at the Los Angeles Latino Book & Family Festival
1. It just makes sense: low cost (entry level sponsorships start at $3,000) plus a loyal audience (attendance estimated at between 10,000 and 15,000) equals an excellent return on investment and it's all for a good cause.
